Moldova's State Administration of Roads to implement new road geographic information system
Chisinau, 12 November /MOLDPRES/ - The leadership of the National Administration of Roads (ASD) today discussed with the representative of the Royal Map company, Eugeniu Cepoi, the road geographic information system developed for the record of road assets on national roads from Moldova.
The system represents an interactive map, in which data was introduced on the category, state of roads, geometry, road cloth, flatness index, etc. The map also contains a search engine, where road segments can be seen, depending on the kilometric position and geographic coordinates. The subjects tackled at the meeting were the development of the geospatial road database of ASD, facilitating the communication with other organizations and institutions for the exchange of data between them on the road infrastructure.
“It is important that we have an advanced database, which is to include all road assets. The data presented on the interactive map will contribute to the planning of works necessary to be carried out on national roads, will enhance the transparency, as well as will help at the analysis of the traffic security to avoid accident situations. It is necessary that we extent the maps for the international corridors, in order to further develop the road networks,’’ the acting ASD director general, Sergiu Bejan, said.
