PHOTO // Moldovan fruits promoted in Berlin: 13 companies of Moldova participate in Fruit Logistica 2026 international exhibition
Thirteen producers and exporters of apples, table grapes and plums from Moldova on February 4-6, 2026, are taking part in the international exhibition Fruit Logistica, staged in Berlin; it is one of the most important global events dedicated to the trade with fruits and vegetables. The country is present with the national stand, Moldova: taste makes the difference.
Fruit Logistica each year brings together thousands of exhibitors and tens of thousands of professional buyers from all over the world, providing a strategic platform for establishing new commercial partnerships and consolidating existing ones. For Moldovan producers and exporters, the event is an opportunity to promote their fruits on high value-added markets and to expand their presence on new markets.
The executive director of the Moldova Fruct Association, Iurie Fala, emphasized the importance of Moldova’s participation in this international event.
“The presence with a country stand sends a clear message to foreign partners: Moldovan fruits are appreciated for its quality and producers are interested in stable, long-term business relationships. In addition to strengthening positions on traditional markets, Moldovan producers are also seeking to identify opportunities on new markets, such as the Middle East and India,” said Fala.
For her part, the director of the Investments Agency, Natalia Bejan, said that the institution constantly supported the participation of Moldovan exporters in Fruit Logistica, considering the exhibition an effective commercial promotion tool for the horticultural sector. She pointed out that the results achieved over the years showed that this presence means not only visibility, but also signed contracts, new partnerships and direct access to European distribution networks.
Data presented by the Moldova Fruct Association shows that, in 2025. the European Union stayed one of the main sales markets for Moldovan fruits. Approximately 126,000 tons of fruits, i.e. 50 per cent of total exports, were delivered to the EU market. Although the volume was slightly lower compared to 2024, the total value of exports increased, confirming the stability and profitability of the European market.
The marketing manager of the Moldova Fruct Association, Alexandra Bicu, said that, in terms of exports’ structure, plums and table grapes had been the most sought-after on the EU market in 2025, totaling more than 75,000 tons.
“Apples’ exports also remained significant, but with a more moderate pace. Romania stood out as the main commercial partner of Moldova, absorbing around 77,000 tons of fruits, worth approximately 72 million US dollars, which represents almost one third of the country’s total fruits exports. Other relevant European markets are Poland, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and France,” the Moldova Fruct representative noted.
Representatives of the companies participating in the exhibition confirm the growing interest of buyers in Moldovan fruits. Lidia Ionaș, export manager at Ionex Trans LLC, noted the increased interest in plums and table grapes, especially seedless varieties, as well as in products’ quality. Discussions were held with potential partners from Germany, Poland, France, Austria and the Netherlands.
At the same time, Nicolae Ambroci, sales and export manager at Nova Plan Fruit LLC / Fruit Line, highlighted the fact that buyers were placing ever greater emphasis on quality, proper packaging and international certifications, such as GLOBALG.A.P., GRASP and, increasingly, IFS, especially for retail chains in the Nordic countries. During the exhibition, meetings are also planned with major supermarket chains of more European states and from outside the EU.
The Fruit Logistica exhibition brings together over 2,500 exhibitors from more than 90 countries and annually attracts over 67,000 trade visitors of more than 150 states. Moldova has been participating in this event since 2012, and its constant presence contributes to strengthening the country’s image as a supplier of quality fruits on international markets.
