Romanian government prioritizes A8 Union Highway, to connect Moldova, Republic of Moldova with Transylvania, Europe

The Transport and Infrastructure Ministry of Romania has informed that decision-makers had issued the Authorization for Construction for the Segment 3 (Leghin- Targu Neamt) of the Targu-Mures-Targu Neamt Highway. ‘’In this way, we prioritize the A8 Union Highway, in order to connect Moldova and the Republic of Moldova with Transylvania and Europe, crossing the Carpathian Mountains, as well as with Bucharest and our target is that, in 2030, we should move from Bucharest to Chisinau on highway,’’ the state secretary, Irinel Scriosteanu, said.   

The works will be carried out on the area of the administrative units Vânători - Neamț, Agapia, Târgu-Neamț, Grumăzești, Petricani, Urecheni, Timișești, Păstrăveni (Neamț county) and on the area of the Motca  administrative unit (Iasi county).

„The Leghin-Târgu Neamț segment, with a length of 29.9 km, must be finished next year (2026). The contract (financed through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan) has a value of 1.56 billion lei (without value added tax) and is carried out by a Romanian constructor,’’ the quoted source also said.

The duration of the works’ carrying out is of 24 months and the deadline for the finishing for those 30 km is the 2026 year. The works will start in early next February.
