MEC: 856 young people from Transnistrian region study in state-funded places in technical vocational and university institutions on right bank of Dniester
According to 2025 data provided by the Ministry of Education and Research, 856 young people from the Transnistrian region have benefited from state-funded places in educational institutions on the right bank of the Dniester:
511 places in higher education;
345 places in technical vocational education.
At present, 270 young people are enrolled in the compensatory study year, a special program intended for graduates with 11 grades from the Transnistrian region. This legal facility allows candidates to access places with a special designation in universities and offers them an additional preparatory year for taking the baccalaureate exams in accordance with national standards. In this way, the equivalence of studies and their full integration into the higher education system are ensured.
The state continues to increase investments in the professional training of young people. In 2026, the average training cost for one student reached 19,900 lei, compared to 18,621.5 lei in the previous year.
Budgetary allocations are also significant for technical education: 26,000 lei for a student in vocational schools (ISCED III); 32,500 lei for programs in colleges and centers of excellence (ISCED IV and V).
These measures are part of the national strategy for the reintegration of the country and the consolidation of trust through education, offering young people equal opportunities for professional development and European integration.
