Enterprise for processing animal origin sub-products likely to be opened in Moldova
Chisinau, 21 October /MOLDPRES/ - Strengthening a modern system of providing services of collection and management of sub-products of animal origin, meant for human consumption, represents a major concern of Moldova’s authorities. Prime Minister Pavel Filip and representatives of the Italian company Salgaim Ecologic discussed the subject at a meeting held at the government on 20 October, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
At the meeting, the sides tackled possibility to open a factory for processing sub-products of animal origin, as well as for recycling used oils and fats for cooking in Moldova. In this context, the company voiced willingness to carry out such a project in the country.
The prime minister welcomed the Italian company’s intention to bring investments to Moldova, as well as the fact that the company’s goal was to settle a problem dealing with the fulfillment of the commitments taken in the context of implementing the Moldova-EU Association Agreement. It is about ensuring services of collection and management of sub-products of animal origin, which are not meant for human consumption, by observing all European standards. At the same time, Pavel Filip noted that another sector, in which Salgaim Ecologic works, the one of collecting used oils and fats for cooking, is also of interest for Moldova, in order to diminish the danger for the environment.
“We are interested in developing such services in Moldova; this is an up-to-date problem and a debt in our plan of aligning with the European standards in this field. Moldova certainly needs assistance from abroad and the government will provide every support to implement this important project,” the PM said.
For their part, the representatives of Salgaim Ecologic highlighted the good cooperation with Moldovan specialists and unveiled their opinions on the measures due to be taken by Moldova’s authorities to ensure a high-tech system in the field of processing animal waste.
In the context, Director of the National Agency for Food Safety, Gheorghe Gaberi, said the project proposed by Italian partners would have an important social impact, including in the public health and food safety sectors.
The prime minister expressed all openness for a long-lasting cooperation, as well as support to promote the concerned project, stressing that it was extremely necessary for Moldova.(Editor L. Alcaza)
