Environment Ministry announces stabilization of Dniester water level near Cosăuți station

The water level of the Dniester River near the Cosăuți intake station, which supplies water to the municipality of Bălți and other districts in the northern part of the country, has stabilized over the past 48 hours after dropping by approximately 60 centimeters. Environment Minister Gheorghe Hajder made the statement today.

According to the official, the current water level near the intake station is 2.10 meters, while the reserve exceeds one meter before reaching the minimum level required for its operation.

“Over the past 48 hours, the level has stabilized and has not decreased further,” the minister said in a social media post.

Gheorghe Hajder noted that the authorities continue to monitor the situation at the intake stations on the Dniester and Prut rivers.

Cosăuți intake station is important infrastructure for supplying water to the municipality of Bălți and several localities in the northern part of the Republic of Moldova. The changes in the water level are being monitored amid a decrease in the river’s flow in recent days.
