
Moldovan premier meets European Commission President
Chisinau, 6 February /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, at a today’s meeting, considered Moldova’s progress in the European integration process for starting the negotiations for accession. The officials also discussed the most important aspects of the EU-Moldova bilateral cooperation, among which the action plan for Moldova’s integration into EU’s domestic market and the Singe Euro Payments Area (SEPA), reducing the roaming tariffs, trade’s liberalization, issues dealing with energy, etc. the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
Natalia Gavrilita thanked for the political support in the European integration process, for giving Moldova the status of country candidate, as well as for the financial assistance which helps for Moldova’s transformation. The PM informed that the Moldovan government was engaged in a process of reformation of the institutions and legislation in accordance with the EU’s acquis. ‘’The transposition of all relevant European directives into the national legislation is a transformational process. The citizens will feel the benefits of the European integration just on this way. Namely for this reason, we intend to consciously implement all reforms needed, without omitting stages,’’ Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita said.
The sides also considered the transformation of the commitments announced in the end of the last year into concrete support instruments and programmes, such as the macro-financial assistance or budgetary support programme. These programmes will help Moldova further invest in the diversification of the energy sources, improving the infrastructure, in social protection programmes.
The officials also considered possibility to exempt Moldova from the dues of participation in European programmes or reduce these dues.
