Prime Minister laid flowers at Wall of Remembrance of Fallen for Ukraine
Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu began his official visit to Kyiv, Ukraine, by paying tribute to the defenders of Ukraine who gave their lives for independence and freedom. Together with his Ukrainian counterpart, Yuliia Svyrydenko, the officials laid flowers at the Wall of Remembrance of the Fallen for Ukraine.
Munteanu conveyed a message of gratitude, solidarity and support for the Ukrainian people's struggle for independence and freedom, for peace throughout the European continent. “Every photo on this wall represents a life cut short by war and a grieving family. Their sacrifice reminds us how precious human life, peace and freedom are,” said Munteanu.
The aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine began four years ago, and the Republic of Moldova continues to stand in solidarity with Ukraine, provide assistance to the neighboring country, and advocate for a lasting peace.
Recently, the Moldovan government extended temporary protection for displaced persons from Ukraine until 1 March 2027, so that Ukrainians fleeing the inhuman and illegal war launched by Russia can remain legally in the Republic of Moldova, work, study and access social and medical services. The delivery of humanitarian aid consignments including energy supplies, medical equipment, emergency vehicles, food products and basic necessities was also approved.
Munteanu will hold meetings today with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko and First Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniyenko. The discussions will focus on progress on the path to European Union accession, bilateral cooperation and regional security.
