PM, Ambassador of the Netherlands discuss development of Moldovan-Dutch relations
Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu today had a meeting with Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Moldova, Fred Duijn. The officials discussed the projects through which the Netherlands supports the modernization of the country, the development of economic collaboration and the advancement of Moldova’s European integration agenda.
Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu noted that the two countries had become even closer in recent years, following the opening of the Embassy of the Netherlands in Chișinău in 2023. Dutch assistance is offered in more key areas: justice reform and the vetting process, human rights, press freedom and combating disinformation, as well as in the energy and security sectors.
The sides discussed possibilities to increase the volume of bilateral trade and Dutch investments in Moldova. For this purpose, the convention avoiding double taxation on income and capital is already active, and dedicated events are organized for business communities. The Netherlands is the third largest investor in Moldova, with over 140 active companies. The PM noted the interest in transferring innovations in smart agriculture, manufacturing industries, green energy and energy efficiency.
Ambassador Fred Duijn assured that the Netherlands and Moldova would further expand cooperation, both at the political, economic and security levels. At the same time, the Dutch side will continue to support Moldova’s European path, by supporting the strengthening of democratic institutions and economic growth.
