President Maia Sandu welcomed Her Majesty Margareta, Custodian of the Romanian Crown, and His Royal Highness Prince Radu in Chisinau today, on the occasion of the third edition of the Moldovan-Romanian Economic Forum, organized under the auspices of the Romanian Royal House.

The forum brings together representatives of the business community, local officials and representatives of business associations from Moldova and Romania and serves as a platform for exchanging ideas, creating partnerships and launching economic projects for the direct benefit of citizens. President Maia Sandu participated in the event alongside the Royal Family, emphasizing the importance of economic development as a response to people's real needs.

In her speech, the head of state called on Romanian entrepreneurs to invest in Moldova: “I extend an open invitation to Romanian companies to contribute to the transformation of Moldova. To be part of a growing economy, gradually aligning with the European market to which it is increasingly connected.”

The president reiterated the special relationship which Moldova had with Romania, highlighting the consistent support provided by the Romanian state in all stages of modernization and accession to the European Union:

“Romania is not just our strategic partner. It is also our partner at heart. No other country has invested more, believed more and consistently supported us on our European way. Our path to the European Union undoubtedly passes through Romania – including through the companies, institutions, support and trust provided by partners beyond the Prut.”

In the context, President Maia Sandu thanked the Romanian Royal Family for the consistent support offered to Moldova – both by promoting the goal of EU accession and by active involvement in educational, social and cultural projects.

The Royal House supports Moldova through various initiatives: the King Michael and Queen Ana scholarships, awarded annually to two students from the Technical University of Moldova and the State University of Moldova; the patronage provided to the King Michael I Theoretical Lyceum Cimiseni, Criuleni district; the Aid for Refugees project, aimed at vulnerable Ukrainian families; as well as by holding, starting from 2023, an evening dedicated to Moldova at the Elisabeta Palace.

“Your presence in the public life of Moldova is not just a gesture of solidarity. It is a concrete contribution to our country's European future, anchored in the values that unite us and in the community of language, culture and destiny that we share,” President Maia Sandu added.
