Moldovan PM presents investment opportunities of Moldova to business community of Romania, France
The economic reforms promoted by the Moldovan government, investment opportunities and the sectors where the friendliest conditions for entrepreneurs are created have been presented to the business members of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture of France in Romania.
Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu emphasized that the government focused its efforts on stimulating economic growth, and the strategic areas in which Moldova encourages investments are energy and information technologies, agribusiness, infrastructure and logistics. "More deregulation and more innovation - this is what we aim for in the upcoming period, in order to stimulate the economy and attract entrepreneurs," said the PM.
The prime minister encouraged Romanian and French companies to participate in the energy innovation programme, as well as in initiatives regarding the modernization of oil product storage capacities and the development of the liberalized natural gas market.
At the same time, Munteanu highlighted the favorable activity conditions in the information technology sector, at the Moldova IT Park. Companies can become virtual residents of the park, a status that provides a string of advantages: a single tax of 7 per cent, a virtual operating regime, an extensive list of eligible IT activities, simplified interaction with public authorities and possibilities to attract specialists from abroad for an extended period through the "IT Visa" initiative. Presently, 49 Romanian companies are already registered here.
The meeting also discussed the potential for expanding bilateral trade. In 2024, Romania ranked first among Moldova's trade partners, with a share of over 20 per cent of total trade. In this regard, current projects to develop road infrastructure and facilitate border transit will stimulate trade exchanges.
The French Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture in Romania is one of the most representative business organizations in Romania, with almost 30 years of activity and around 600 members – companies with French, international and Romanian capital, NGOs and universities.
