Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu met residents of Carpineni village – one of the largest settlements of Moldova, which will soon benefit from the repair of a local road through the Europe is Close Programme. The locality is a good example of successful local development projects: roads have been built, recreational areas and playgrounds have been set up, and the “Ștefan Holban” Lyceum has implemented an energy efficiency project as early as in 2015. More than 500 students, including those in lower secondary education, have been receiving free meals starting from 2025.

The PM noted that education and the creation of good schools, as well as the rehabilitation of infrastructure in localities stayed a priority for the government, emphasizing that the best projects are implemented when there is a permanent dialogue and cooperation between local and central authorities.

“Carpineni is a village of hardworking people. Over the years, the locality has managed to attract important investments and projects, efforts that continue to this day. These projects have been implemented through effective collaboration between local authorities, development partners and villagers. When we join our efforts, we succeed for the entire community,” said Prime Minister Munteanu.

Citizens also pointed out certain difficulties related to gasification, getting urban planning certificates, taxation and valuation of real estate, as well as the need to improve road infrastructure and access for elderly people and persons with disabilities. The sides also discussed importance of civil society’s involvement in consultations on the concept of the local public administration reform, as this reform will contribute to better attraction of funds and projects for the benefit of the people.
