Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu has had a meeting with Oleksandr Korniyenko, First Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, during his visit to Kyiv, Ukraine.

The officials noted the good Moldovan-Ukrainian cooperation and discussed the implementation of the reforms required in the process of accession to the European Union. In the context, the sides welcomed the adoption by the European Commission of the 2025 Enlargement Package, which highlights the progress made by candidate countries, including Moldova and Ukraine.

“We will continue to coordinate our efforts on our common path toward EU accession. We have the same goals: peace and a better life for our citizens,” said the Moldovan PM.

The current situation regarding regional security was another topic on the agenda. Prime Minister Munteanu expressed Moldova’s solidarity with the Ukrainian people and condemned Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine. Since the beginning of the war, Moldova has consistently provided humanitarian assistance, hosted refugees and supported international sanctions mechanisms.

The Moldovan PM reiterated Moldova’s readiness to contribute to Ukraine’s reconstruction process, including through the implementation of bilateral and regional initiatives in the fields of transport, infrastructure, energy, cyber resilience, and security.

For his part, the First Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine thanked Moldova for the humanitarian aid provided to Ukrainian citizens, the extension of the temporary protection mechanism on the territory of Moldova and the care shown to vulnerable children.

The officials also discussed opportunities to further develop economic relations, joint Moldovan-Ukrainian infrastructure, the possibility of launching projects in the field of health, as well as the exchange of experience in the area of cybersecurity.
