European Commissioner begins visit to Moldova with meeting with President

European Commissioner for Economy and Productivity, Implementation and Simplification Valdis Dombrovskis began his visit to the Republic of Moldova with a meeting with President Maia Sandu. The discussions focused on Moldova’s European path and the reforms needed to strengthen the economy.

According to the EU Delegation to the Republic of Moldova, the European Union is supporting the efforts of the authorities in Chisinau through the €1.9 billion Economic Growth Plan for the Republic of Moldova.

Of this amount, the Republic of Moldova already has access to more than €503 million in grants and loans on favorable terms.

The financial support is aimed at developing Moldova’s economy and creating new opportunities for citizens and businesses.

Valdis Dombrovskis’s visit to the Republic of Moldova is taking place from October 1 to 2. During the visit, the European official is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Vasile Tofan, members of the Government, and representatives of the business community. The discussions will focus on investments and the measures needed to bring Moldova’s economy closer to the European Union’s single market.
