Moldovan Prime Minister holds talks with Croatian and Slovenian counterparts

The Republic of Moldova needs the support of our friends in the European Union to move forward quickly, based on merit, and to turn progress in the negotiations into concrete results for the people. The statement was made by Prime Minister Vasile Tofan, who held talks in New York with Prime Ministers of Croatia Andrej Plenković and Slovenia Janez Janša.

The official highlighted that Slovenia and Croatia are two important European partners of our country. The discussions focused on the European path of the Republic of Moldova and the steps our country needs to take in the coming period as part of this process.


“Very good discussions today in New York with two important European partners of the Republic of Moldova. I met with the Prime Ministers of Croatia, Andrej Plenković, and Slovenia, Janez Janša. We spoke first and foremost about the European path of the Republic of Moldova and the steps we want to take in the coming period. We need the support of our friends in the European Union to move forward quickly, based on merit, and to turn progress in the negotiations into concrete results for the people,” said Vasile Tofan.




Another topic discussed was strengthening the economic partnership and attracting investments. The Prime Minister stressed that Moldova needs more European capital, companies willing to invest in our country, and partnerships that create jobs and opportunities for our people.


“We also discussed how we can further develop economic relations with Croatia and Slovenia—through investments, stronger ties between companies, and increased trade. Moldova needs more European capital, companies willing to invest here, and partnerships that create jobs and opportunities for our people,” he emphasized.


Vasile Tofan also thanked Croatia and Slovenia for the support.


“Croatia and Slovenia know very well how much accession to the European Union can transform a country. Moldova knows where it wants to go, and we are working to advance as quickly as possible through reforms and concrete results, using the strong political support we currently have in Europe,” Tofan concluded.


Tofan is in New York from September 23 to 26 to participate in the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly. The official will hold several bilateral meetings and deliver a speech during the plenary session of the UN General Assembly.
