Five localities in Florești and Șoldănești decide to merge into single town hall: around 26 million lei provided by Government for development

Five localities in Florești and Șoldănești have decided to merge into a single town hall to provide citizens with better services and attract new investments in infrastructure. These are the town of Ghindești, the communes Ghindești and Roșietici, as well as the villages Domulgeni and Rogojeni. The targeted communities will benefit from an incentive of around 26 million lei, provided by the Government for development.

Secretary General of the Government Alexei Buzu said that the example from Florești and Șoldănești shows that when localities choose to work together, citizens benefit.

“When localities choose to work together, people benefit. This is also the case of the town of Ghindești, the communes Ghindești and Roșietici, and the villages Domulgeni and Rogojeni, which have decided to merge their town halls in order to build a more efficient administration and better public services for citizens,” the official said.

According to him, the five localities will benefit from a development incentive worth 25.9 million lei. The money will be invested in concrete projects such as the modernization of local roads, expansion of water and sewer networks, development of public lighting, and improvement of waste collection and management services.

“Voluntary amalgamation does not mean losing the identity of the localities. It means more administrative capacity, more investments, and better services for each community,” Alexei Buzu concluded.

According to the latest information presented by the authorities, so far around 790 town halls in the country are involved in the voluntary amalgamation process.

At the end of January, the Government announced the launch of the preparatory process for local public administration reform, as part of efforts to modernize administration and improve public services. Subsequently, the authorities organized broad public consultations, after which the reform concept was presented. Recently, Parliament approved legislative amendments that simplify and improve the process of voluntary amalgamation of administrative-territorial units.

According to the authorities, the changes were developed after consultations in which over 4,500 mayors and citizens participated. At present, more than 400 decisions to initiate the voluntary amalgamation process have been approved at the national level.
