
Former economy minister to be put forward for position of member of Supervisory Board of National Bank of Moldova
The parliamentary commission for economy, budget and finance is set to put forward Dumitru Alaiba for the position of member of the Supervisory Board of the National Bank of Moldova (BNM). The commission’s head, Radu Marian, has made statements to this effect.
According to the cited source, Dumitru Alaiba has solid professional experience in the economic and financial fields. He held the position of Minister of Economy, was a member of the Financial Stability Committee, and held key positions in the legislature as an MP and later as chairman of the relevant parliamentary commission. Alaiba also served in the past as an advisor to the prime minister.
The BNM’s Supervisory Board is the body in charge of ensuring the independent public oversight of the National Bank's activities, with the role of guaranteeing transparency, integrity and good governance at the central financial institution.
