Stop fake news! Ministry of Defense denies rumors on social media

The Ministry of Defense announces that false information is spread on social networks regarding a supposed "deployment of British soldiers at the border with the Transnistrian region" and about the "arrival, after the elections, of over 800 NATO soldiers in the Republic of Moldova." The institution decribes the claims as lies.

According to the Ministry of Defense, this is not the first time such invented scenarios have circulated on Telegram, TikTok, and other online platforms. Generally, these are part of a broader disinformation campaign through which Russia conducts a hybrid war against the Republic of Moldova.

"The aim of these actions is to sow fear and aggression. The disseminators of this information seek to create panic and undermine citizens' trust in state institutions. Their objective is to strike at our country's European path, which brings peace and stability," the institution's press release reads.

The Ministry urges citizens to get informed exclusively from official and credible sources and not to fall prey to these false narratives.
