Moldova establishes diplomatic relations with Togo

Moldova and the Togolese Republic have officially established diplomatic relations following a document signed in New York by the foreign ministers of the two countries, Mihai Popsoi and Robert Dussey. Togo thus becomes the 173rd country with which Moldova has diplomatic relations.

Through the signed document, the two countries expressed their commitment to developing bilateral relations, in accordance with the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations, while observing sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.

Mihai Popsoi and Robert Dussey discussed the development of interinstitutional cooperation and collaboration in areas of mutual interest. The two officials noted that the establishment of diplomatic relations would facilitate contacts between Moldova and Togo and create new opportunities for cooperation.

Togo is a West African country with a population of approximately 8.6 million people.

According to the Foreign Affairs Ministry, the establishment of diplomatic relations with Togo is part of Moldova’s efforts to expand dialogue and cooperation with UN member states and strengthen international partnerships.

A document on the establishment of diplomatic relations between Moldova and Namibia is also due to be signed in New York.
