Chisinau's Triumphal Arch to be restored
The Triumphal Arch in the center of the capital will be restored. Today the Government approved a decision establishing the necessary legal conditions for preparing and launching the monument restoration process.
Under the approved decision, the Triumphal Arch and the adjacent land have been included on the list of state-owned public immovable property. The monument will be administered by the Ministry of Culture, while the adjacent land will be managed by the Public Property Agency.
Clarifying the legal status and registering the monument in the Register of Immovable Property are necessary steps for launching the restoration works.
“We intend to complete the administrative and technical processes by the end of this year, so that in 2027 we can organize the procurement process, select contractors, and begin the works in March or April,” Culture Minister Dan Suruceanu said.
For 2026, the Ministry of Culture’s budget includes 5 million lei for preparing the technical documentation and developing the feasibility study for the Restoration of the Triumphal Arch in Chisinau project.
The Triumphal Arch covers an area of 131.2 square meters, while the adjacent land covers 0.0151 hectares. The monument is part of the Holy Gates and Square ensemble, which is included in the Register of state-protected monuments of the Republic of Moldova.
