Moldovan electoral body to establish number of polling stations opened abroad, for citizens on left bank of Dniester till 15 September

Chisinau, 10 September /MOLDPRES/ - The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) is to establish the number of polling stations opened abroad and the ones for the citizens from the left bank of Dniester till 15 September this year. The subject was discussed at public consultations organized by CEC.   

Attending the discussions were representatives of the Foreign Affairs Ministry, General Police Inspectorate, Reintegration Policies Bureau, representatives of the initiative groups for backing the candidates for the office of Moldova’s president and participants in the referendum, observers accredited for these elections.  

CEC president Angelica Caraman stressed the importance of these consultations, as they give possibility to exchange opinions and establish the strong points, as well as the challenges in the process of creation of the polling stations outside Moldova and for the citizens with right to vote from the settlements on the left bank of Dniester.   

When compiling the lists with proposals for these polling stations, decision-makers took into account the criteria established by the electoral law. At the same time, they took into account the results of the communication with the authorities of the residence states on the opening of extra-territorial polling stations.   

At the same time, the participants in the discussions tackled also the vote by correspondence, the processing of the applications on registration for voting by this way, certification of the electoral civil servants from abroad, organizing the work of the lower electoral bodies. An important aspect regarded the security of the electoral civil servants who will work in the polling stations due to be opened in states with high risk to security, as well as nearby the settlements which are not under the state’s constitutional jurisdiction.
