Moldovan parliament approves composition of parliamentary delegations to international organizations

The parliament of the 12th legislative period will have 12 delegations to international parliamentary organizations and bilateral parliamentary organizations. The draft resolution outlining the numerical and nominal composition of the delegations was adopted by the legislature today. The draft specifies the head of each delegation, members and alternate members.

Thus, the delegation of Moldova - European Union Parliamentary Association Commission will be led by Marcel Spatari, president of the European Integration Commission and MP of the Action and Solidarity Party’s (PAS) faction. PAS lawmaker Ion Groza will be at the head of the delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), just as in the previous legislature.  The delegation to the Eastern Partnership Parliamentary Assembly (EURONEST) will be led by PAS deputy Adrian Balutel.

Additionally, Petru Burduja, lawmaker of the parliamentary faction of Moldovan Party of Socialists (PSRM), was elected as head of the delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC). PAS MP Lilian Carp, president of the commission for national security, defense, and public order, is the leader of the delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.

Deputy Alexandru Versinin from the Democracy at Home parliamentary faction will lead the delegation to the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU). PAS deputy Veronica Rosca, president of the juridical commission for appointments and immunities, will head the delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, a position she held in the previous legislature as well.

Deputy Marcela Adam of the Action and Solidarity Party's faction will continue, as in the previous legislature, to lead the delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie, and Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu will lead the legislature's delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the South East Europe Cooperation Process (SEECP). MP Olga Ursu from the Alternative faction will be at the forefront of the delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of GUAM and Renato Usatii of Our Party’s faction will lead the delegation to the Central European Initiative's Parliamentary Dimension.

The position of co-chair of the Parliamentary Assembly of Moldova and Poland remains vacant for now, and is reserved for the opposition.

In accordance with the parliament’s regulations, when selecting parliamentary factions' representatives for the legislature's delegations to international organizations, their proportional representation in parliament is considered. Thus, according to the principle of proportionality, seven delegations will be led by deputies from the parliamentary majority, while the other five delegations will be led by opposition representatives.
