Moldovan president nominates Ion Paduraru for premier office
Chisinau, 14 January /MOLDPRES/ - Secretary General of the Presidency Ion Paduraru is the official candidate nominated by President Nicolae Timofti for the office of prime minister. The head of state made statements to this effect late on 14 January.
According to the president, Ion Paduraru meets all the integrity conditions. "I avail of the constitutional right to put forward a candidate for the office of prime minister, as the parliamentary majority comprised 48 MPs. I know Mr Paduraru for a long time, he is a man with initiative, has abilities of manager and things statally. I am sure that he meets all the integrity conditions. I wish him much success, I hope that the lawmakers will support him," Nicolae Timofti said.
The prime minister-designate said he relied on the support of all parliamentary formations. "I am honoured by this appointment. Starting from tomorrow, I will start discussions with the parliament members. I will try to ask for the parliament's vote in a shorter period of time. The main priorities for the future government are: stabilisation of the economic situation in Moldova, resuming the dialogue with the foreign partners and implementation of the Association Agreement with the European Union," Ion Paduraru said.
The candidate nominated for the office of prime minister was born on the village of Tiplesti, central Singerei district, on 18 January 1961. He is married and has two children.
Ion Paduraru is jurist and has been holding the position of adviser of President Nicolae Timofti starting from April 2012.
Under the Constitution, the candidate for the office of prime minister has at his disposal 15 days to ask for the parliament's vote of confidence on the government's action programme and the entire list of the cabinet.
