NATO Deputy Secretary General at Security Forum: Moldova has right to decide future without external interference
Republic of Moldova has the right to decide its own future without external interference. NATO Deputy Secretary General Radmila Shekerinska made the statement at Moldova Security Forum, held today in Chisinau. The official highlighted that NATO supports the territorial integrity, sovereignty, and European path of our country.
"We are proud that the Republic of Moldova is one of our partners. And I want to congratulate the people of the Republic of Moldova for their courage in defending democracies. It is a clear demonstration of your resilience against political pressure, disinformation, and hostile actions. The Republic of Moldova has the right to decide its own future without outside interference. NATO supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Moldova. We also support your path regarding EU integration. We wish all your citizens to have a prosperous future that they deserve," stated Radmila Shekerinska.
The official added that NATO and the Republic of Moldova share similar challenges and have a common goal of peace and stability.
"NATO's partnership with the Republic of Moldova has lasted for more than 30 years. During this period, we have fully respected your constitutional neutrality and political independence. Our dialogue and practical cooperation have significantly increased with our defense package, through which NATO and its allies provide support to the Republic of Moldova to strengthen resilience, counter disinformation, and respond to cyber threats. NATO and the Republic of Moldova together face Russian aggression in Ukraine. We have a common goal of peace and stability. And we also share similar challenges. I want to thank the Republic of Moldova for its valuable contribution to international security, including the contribution to the NATO mission carried out in Kosovo," stated the NATO Deputy Secretary General.
According to the official, the Moldova Security Forum held in Chisinau is a platform for sharing ideas and experiences that will lead to the Republic of Moldova becoming more resilient and safer.
Today in Chisinau, the second edition of the Moldova Security Forum is organized. The event brings together officials from the Republic of Moldova and partner states, representatives of NATO and the European Union, experts, members of civil society, and academia. During this forum, participants are expected to analyze emerging risks, identify current vulnerabilities, and formulate common solutions and strategic responses to strengthen national and regional resilience.
