Parliament speaker on Independence Day says Moldovans move forward, united, upright, free
Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu has congratulated the citizens of the Republic of Moldova on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the proclamation of Independence. The official emphasized that today, looking back, the Moldovan citizens can speak about a true independence, not just a symbolic one.
“Today, at 35 years of independence of our country, looking back, we can speak about a true independence, not just a symbolic one. Independence to move firmly on the European path, independence to carry out courageous reforms, independence to restore our Romanian language to its true name in the country’s laws, independence to be masters in our own home,” Igor Grosu said.
The speaker noted that the Republic of Moldova was continuing on its path of development and called for unity.
“Happy Independence Day, dear Moldova and dear Moldovans! We move forward, united, upright and free!” said Speaker Igor Grosu.
The Republic of Moldova is celebrating 35 years since the proclamation of Independence. On this occasion, Presidents of Romania and Ukraine, Nicusor Dan and Volodymyr Zelensky, are expected in Chisinau, at the invitation of President Maia Sandu, to take part in the events dedicated to this day.
The schedule of events dedicated to Independence Day began in the morning with flower-laying ceremonies at the Grieving Mother monument at the Eternity Memorial Complex and at the monument of ruler Stephen the Great and Holy.
In the afternoon, a military parade will be held on the Great National Assembly Square. The evening will culminate with a concert featuring local artists.
