State Chancellery to launch comprehensive review of consultancy contracts

The State Chancellery will launch a review of consultancy contracts concluded so far, in order to assess whether there are any vulnerabilities and risks. This was announced today by Secretary General of the Government Alexei Buzu, after President Maia Sandu submitted such a request this morning.

“Each consultancy contract is initiated based on a terms of reference. It is very clearly established what the person to be hired must do and whether, indeed, there is such a need. The contracts are temporary, based on these results and deliverables. We clearly heard Maia Sandu’s request. We will launch an analysis to understand whether there are any vulnerabilities and risks that the existing procedures do not identify and do not manage adequately,” said Buzu after the Government meeting.

Maia Sandu announced today a set of measures meant to strengthen integrity in state institutions, following the abuses at MoldATSA. One of the proposed measures is the evaluation of all consultancy contracts financed from external assistance, in order to verify whether they meet the needs of the institutions and deliver quality results.
