Agreement entered into force: Moldovan driving licenses to be recognized in United Arab Emirates
Moldovan driving licenses will be recognized in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The Memorandum of Understanding between the governments of Moldova and UAE on the mutual recognition and exchange of driving licenses has entered into force.
The agreement allows Moldova’s citizens to use their Moldovan driving license in the United Arab Emirates during temporary stays, without taking additional exams, in compliance with the conditions set out in local legislation.
At the same time, citizens residing in UAE can exchange their Moldovan driving license for one issued by the local authorities for category B, without taking theoretical and practical exams.
The document aims to simplify and speed up administrative procedures, facilitate the integration of Moldovan citizens and ensure the official recognition of documents issued by the competent national authorities. The initiative is also aligned with the 2024–2026 National Development Plan and contributes to guaranteeing full freedom of movement for the Diaspora.
The Memorandum of Understanding between the governments of Moldova and the United Arab Emirates was signed in Abu Dhabi on February 3, 2026.
So far, Moldova has signed 11 similar agreements on the recognition of driving licenses.
