Almost half of schools in country held online classes on Friday
A total of 571 schools in the country conducted online classes today due to bad weather. Most of them are in the municipality of Chișinău – 147, Florești district – 38, and Sângerei district – 34.
At the same time, 42 institutions organized their activities in a mixed format, with both in-person and online attendance. In another 453 schools, classes were held with physical presence, and 21 educational institutions operated with physical presence starting from 09:00.
Additionally, 74 schools remained closed today, with classes to be recovered at a later date. Professional technical education institutions (vocational schools, centres of excellence, colleges) also chose different ways of conducting classes in the context of the difficult weather conditions. Thus, according to data from the Ministry of Education and Research (MEC), 22 institutions are studying online, four institutions are using a mixed format with both physical and online presence, and 55 are operating as usual, with physical attendance.
The MEC emphasized that local public authorities and educational institutions will assess the situation daily and make decisions that ensure and protect the safety of children, teaching staff and school personnel.
