Attention for transport operators and travelers: traffic on Giurgiu–Ruse Friendship Bridge to be temporarily restricted on 4–5 June

Citizens of the Republic of Moldova who are in, transiting, or intending to travel to the Republic of Bulgaria are advised that road traffic on the Giurgiu–Ruse Friendship Bridge will be temporarily restricted on 4–5 June 2026 due to repair works.

According to the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in the Republic of Bulgaria, traffic for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles will be suspended on 4 June between 09:00 and 21:00. At the same time, traffic for trucks will be restricted from 4 June, 09:00, until 5 June, 09:00.

The restrictions have been introduced to carry out asphalt works on the lane towards Romania and to pour concrete into the expansion joints between the repaired sections of the bridge.

In this context, the authorities recommend that drivers use other border crossing points between Romania and Bulgaria, including Vidin–Calafat, Kardam–Negru Vodă, Silistra–Ostrov Călărași, Dobromir–Krushari, and Kainardzha–Lipnița. Ferry routes Nikopol–Turnu Măgurele, Svishtov–Zimnicea, Oryahovo–Bechet and Aydemir–Chiciu can also be used.

The Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Bulgaria specified that citizens facing emergency situations can call the diplomatic mission’s emergency number: +359 02 935 6015.
