The Commission for Prosecutors' Evaluation has concluded the hearings of the leadership of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (PA), as part of the extraordinary external evaluation process. The last to be heard was Victor Muntean, the acting deputy chief prosecutor. He was invited before the Commission on July 11.

“During the hearing, the Commission members discussed with the prosecutor, in order to clarify certain aspects of his evaluation file. At this dialogue, Victor Muntean had the opportunity to provide additional explanations and offer useful clarifications for completing the information analyzed by the evaluators,” said the Prosecutors' Evaluation Commission.

Victor Muntean said that “external evaluation is a new and complex procedure” and thanked his family members for their “encouragement during this complex exercise and for the first time in Moldova.”

The acting chief prosecutor Marcel Dumbravan and acting deputies Octavian Iachimovschi and Mariana Leahu were heard in last June. Thus, the entire leadership team of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office has gone through the hearing stage provided for within the evaluation.

Also on July 11, prosecutor Gheorghe Caragia, an employee of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, was invited before the Commission. In his case too, the discussions aimed at clarifying certain information from the evaluation file.

After the hearing, the Commission has up to 30 working days, in order to develop a motivated report on the passage or non-passage of the evaluation. Subsequently, the Superior Council of Prosecutors considers the report at a public session and adopts a final decision.
