CNMC: State institutions are ready to intervene if weather conditions deteriorate in the coming period

The state institutions are prepared for possible interventions, in case of deteriorating weather conditions on the period of 15–22 February. The National Crisis Management Center (CNMC), which has issued a string of recommendations for citizens, made statements to this effect.

The CNMC announced that central public authorities were continuously monitoring the evolution of the situation and have intervention protocols ready, in order to ensure a coordinated response, keep roads passable, manage possible power outages and provide necessary support to the population, if needed.

Authorities have urged citizens to show caution and responsibility, to avoid non-essential travel in difficult conditions and to properly equip their vehicles for the cold season.

At the same time, people are warned to be careful while walking on sidewalks and roads, as well as near bodies of water, to prepare alternative sources of light (flashlight), and to have a spare battery/power bank for their phone.

Citizens are also advised to provide support to vulnerable people.

For next week, meteorologists forecast decreasing air temperatures and precipitation, including sleet and snow.
