
Director of UN Development Programme's regional office to pay official visit to Moldova
Chisinau, 31 May /MOLDPRES/ - Director of the Regional Office for Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Mirjana Špoljarić Egger will pay an official visit to Moldova on 1-3 June.
The official will meet UNDP key partners, in order to discuss the organization’s support for the local communities hit by the war from Ukraine, refugees hosted at accommodation centres. Also, Mirjana Špoljarić Egger will participate in the launch of an EU-UNDP Programme, which will approach the impact of the energy crisis and will initiate solutions for the energy security and attenuating the energy poverty’s burden.
During her visit to Moldova, the UNDP regional director will have meetings with President Maia Sandu, Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita, the heads of the parliamentary commissions and will discuss the partnership of UNDP with the authorities, in order to enhance the economic, social and environmental resilience of Moldova.
Špoljarić Egger will visit more programmes and projects dealing with the adaptation to the climate changes, preventing disasters and reducing the period of response to crisis situations, promotion of rural tourism, development of business, protection of gender-based violence survivors, extension of the digital education, etc.
