DOC // Alexandru Harea appointed as director of State Protection and Guard Service
Alexandru Harea has been appointed as Director of the State Protection and Guard Service. President Maia Sandu signed a decree to this effect.
According to the document, Alexandru Harea will assume the position starting 18 February this year.
Alexandru Harea has previously worked within the Ministry of Defense.
In mid-November 2025, President Maia Sandu signed decrees on the dismissal of the former SPPS director, Vasile Popa, and the former deputy director, Vitalie Lupașcu, based on their resignation requests.
The State Protection and Guard Service is the institution responsible for the protection of state dignitaries, diplomatic missions, and other nationally important facilities.
