List of prosthetic beneficiaries expanded
Chisinau, 17 September /MOLDPRES/- List of prosthetic recipients and consumables required for surgery has been expanded. Deputies approved yesterday in the second reading a draft amendment to the Health Care Law.
The document sees that patients with anophthalmia (lack of one eye or both), regardless of its etiology (including trauma), will benefit from individual prosthesis and consumables necessary for surgery from the funds of compulsory health insurance.
Currently, the National Medical Insurance Company only covers the expenses incurred by patients diagnosed with cancer, which disadvantages other categories of patients, who also need support from the state.
The estimated costs for the surgical and protein rehabilitation of patients with anophthalmia are about 300 thousand lei per year.
According to official data, 100 prostheses are made annually, of which 70% are for a fee.
