Moldovan Border Police receive donation of vehicles, computer technology
Chisinau, 31 January /MOLDPRES/ - The Border Police today received a donation which includes four intervention vehicles and one consignment of computer technology on behalf of the United States.
At the event, Interior Minister Ana Revenco stressed that it was quite important to consolidate the capacities of the Interior Ministry’s (MAI) subdivisions in order to cope with the challenges emerged with the war in Ukraine. ‘’This support shows the confidence and support of our partners. The current risks demand a professional approach; yet, I am sure that we can cope with this complex crisis together. There are still dangers and the Border Police team will watch our security at the border. We thank the government of the USA for always being close to MAI,’’ Ana Revenco said.
For his part, U.S. Ambassador to Moldova Kent Logsdon noted that the donation’s goal was to strengthen the capacities of communication and cyber security of the Border Police. ‘’At the same time, the vehicles, endowed with modern equipment, will enhance the quick reaction capacities. We thank the border policemen for the intense work, commitment and sacrifice in the fulfillment of the important tasks in these difficult times,’’ the diplomat said.
„These cars and computer technology will be distributed to first-line colleagues. For more years already, we have been benefiting from the support of the USA to cope with challenges and we thank you for this,’’ Head of the Border Police Rosian Vasiloi said.
The donation’s overall value is 830,000 dollars.
