Moldovan capital might return to yellow code of alert in public health sector
Chisinau, 26 July /MOLDPRES/ - The situation becomes worrying, after the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry (MSMPS) has reconfirmed the existence of the Delta variant of the COVID-19 virus in the Chisinau municipality; thus, the Extraordinary Municipal Public Health Commission will hold a meeting this week.
At va today’s online meeting of the municipal service, the Chisinau general mayor, Ion Ceban, instructed the convening of a meeting of the aforementioned commission. ‘’Specialists in the medical sector must assess the current health condition in the city, especially given that a tendency of increase in the number of COVID-19 infections is recorded in the municipality,’’ Ceban noted.
The acting head of the Social Assistance and Health General Department, Boris Galca, said that that the number of coronavirus cases had been increased by 26 cases per 100,000 residents in Chisinau on the last days.’’ ‘’In these circumstances, most likely, we will return to the yellow code of alert in the health care sector,’’ Galca noted.
According to the official, a significant increase in the number of applications for vaccination was recorded in the last week-end. ‘’In the week-end, 441 people were vaccinated at mobile points,’’ Galca said.
At the same time, he specified that over 7,000 people had been immunized in the special trolley bus and bus, with 256,000 residents of Chisinau vaccinated in all. ‘’This is a good rate, yet not sufficient for the appearance of the social immunity,’’ Boris Galca said.
The Extraordinary Municipal Public Health Commission will set new measures of prevention of the infection with the new-type coronavirus at the official establishment of the yellow code in the public health sector.
Presently, the green code of alert in the health sector is in force in Chisinau.
