Moldovan driving licences to be recognized in United Arab Emirates
The Republic of Moldova and the United Arab Emirates have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the mutual recognition and conversion of driving licences.
They will be got in a shorter time frame, without additional exams and with fewer administrative formalities.
The document was signed by Minister of Internal Affairs Daniella Misail-Nichitin and His Highness Lieutenant General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of the United Arab Emirates on the platform of the Global Forum on Government Regulation and Justice, held on 3–5 February this year in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The Memorandum provides for the possibility of recognizing and converting driving licences. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, this measure means less bureaucracy, greater mobility and enhanced safety for Moldovan citizens who work, start families and build their future in the United Arab Emirates. At the same time, the treaty aims to simplify and speed up administrative procedures, facilitate the integration of Moldovan citizens and ensure the official recognition of documents issued by the competent national authorities. The initiative is aligned with the National Development Plan 2024–2026 and contributes to guaranteeing full freedom of movement for the diaspora.
The Republic of Moldova currently has 11 similar agreements on the recognition of driving licences and continues to expand this network so that the rights of Moldovan citizens are respected regardless of the country in which they reside.
