Moldovan MPs change purpose of plot of land on which Chisinau Arena is to be constructed
Chisinau, 23 March /MOLDPRES/ - A draft law which provides for the switch of a plot of land of about 70 hectares from the Stauceni village, Chisinau municipality, to the category of grounds meant for constructions, was adopted in the final reading with the votes of 56 MPs today.
The draft was unveiled by Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu. The speaker said that, through the approval of the legislative amendments, the plot of land on which the Chisinau Arena, the first multipurpose hall of Moldova, is to be built would switch to the management of the Education, Culture and Research Ministry.
According to Candu, the launch of a project of such a complexity is a novelty for Moldova. “In the last 26 years, almost nothing important has been built for the society; on the contrary, stadiums, play-grounds and community centres were destroyed. No enough investments were made in culture and sport. Therefore, I am glad that something has been daily happening as for the draft planned and announced two weeks ago,” the parliament speaker said.
At the same time, Andrian Candu stressed that, in accordance with the action plan, an international tender is to be held and the construction works are to start in next June-July; the works might last about one year.
A group of lawmakers have recently registered in parliament a draft law, which sees the switch of a plot of land of about 70 hectares from the Stauceni village, Chisinau municipality, to the category of grounds meant for construction.
The Chisinau Arena is to be constructed through a public-private partnership, with a capacity of up to 5,000 places and big spaces for sports, cultural activities, area for trainings, Olympic swimming pool, tennis club, as well as exhibitions, conferences and meetings.
