More than 340 mayoralties of Moldova start voluntary amalgamation process
More than 340 mayoralties have already started the voluntary amalgamation process. Secretary General of the Government Alexei Buzu has presented figures to this effect.
“We have the first encouraging results, which show us that we are on the right track. More than 340 mayoralties have already initiated the voluntary amalgamation process. We are continuing the discussions and we remain alongside every community throughout this journey. Together, we are building strong mayoralties for developed localities and better services for people,” said Alexei Buzu.
The official stressed that the local public administration reform was being built together, transparently and with a clear goal: better services for people.
“Villages keep their identity, while mayoralties are merging, in order to gain more capacity, resources and specialists. A strong local administration means investments, European funds and higher living standards for communities,” added Alexei Buzu.
In late last January, the government officially announced the launch of the preparation process for the local public administration reform, as part of efforts to modernize the administration and improve the quality of public services provided to the population.
