Otilia Dandara has been officially confirmed as rector of USM

Otilia Dandara has been officially confirmed as rector of Moldova State University (USM), starting from March 19, 2026, by order of Minister of Education and Research.

In the context of this appointment, the university community, including teaching staff, researchers, students and administrative personnel have expressed their support and willingness to actively contribute to achieving common objectives, ensuring continuity of institutional projects and strengthening academic prestige.

“This reconfirmation represents an expression of the trust granted to her professionalism, strategic vision and constant commitment to consolidating academic excellence, research, and the role of the university in society. We are confident that the new mandate will continue the path of institutional modernization, internationalization and sustainable development of Moldova State University, in line with the values of contemporary education and with the standards of the European Higher Education Area,” USM communicated.

Otilia Dandara was elected rector of USM following the election held on March 3, 2026.

Otilia Dandara holds a habilitated doctorate in education sciences, is a university professor and, until recently, held the position of first vice-rector/vice-rector for teaching and student affairs at Moldova State University, having over 30 years of experience in teaching, research and academic management. In her previous role, she coordinated teaching programs and university projects, contributing to institutional development and to facilitating students’ access to relevant educational services.
