Over 100 alumni reunite at Ivan Vazov Lyceum of Taraclia
Over one hundred former pupils of the Theoretical Lyceum Ivan Vazov from Taraclia have taken part in the traditional alumni reunion. The event brought together former classmates, current teachers and retired educators, offering an opportunity to recall school years through nostalgic stories, an emotional artistic programme prepared by current students and a moment of silence in memory of teachers who have passed away.
Among the participants, there was Alexandr Borimecicov, a former student of the lyceum (graduate of 2006, science track), currently the director of the Association for the Development of the Bulgarian Community of Moldova (ARBOM). He gladly returned to his alma mater, emphasizing his deep connection with the institution and the Taraclia city.
“Twenty years ago, we, still just boys and girls, walked out of the school gates believing that we would go far away to search for our happiness. But fate decided otherwise. I did not leave and instead tied my life to my hometown of Taraclia. Here I started a family and I do what truly brings me joy – develop, help and be useful,” said the ARBOM director.
Over the years, Borimecicov, in his capacity as vice president of the district council and as ARBOM director, has made a constant and significant contribution to the development of the Ivan Vazov Lyceum and other educational institutions of the region. Notable achievements include equipping the lyceum with modern tools for the robotics lab (with support on behalf of Bulgaria and the association), enabling pupils to participate in national and international competitions, including in Bulgaria.
Borimecicov expressed his wish for the lyceum to become a strong center in the field of robotics, and ARBOM continues to support these efforts.
“I want the lyceum to become strong in robotics. I am glad that ARBOM has contributed and provided modern equipment, so that their achievements are known not only in Moldova, but also in Bulgaria. This year as well, we will once again send children to competitions to compete for places on the podium,” he added.
Besides his involvement in modernizing educational infrastructure – including sports fields at the Olimpia Panov Lyceum and the Gymnasium of Taraclia, interactive equipment for teaching the Bulgarian language at the “Inzov” Gymnasium, and other equipment projects – Alexandr Borimecicov came to the reunion with a new generous gesture: a high-performance laptop together with the necessary accessories, meant to support interactive lessons and pupils’ creative projects.
“At such a celebration, you don’t come empty-handed. With joy I handed over to the school a laptop and accessories for it, so that young people have more opportunities to learn, to develop and to achieve new results,” the former graduate emphasized.
The lyceum’s headmaster, Emilia Zaporojean, expressed deep gratitude.
“On behalf of the entire lyceum staff and personally, I extend sincere thanks for these priceless gifts. This set is not just technology, but a powerful tool for the modern educational process. It will open new possibilities for teachers in preparing interactive lessons and it will help students in carrying out creative and project-based work. Your generosity and attention to the needs of the lyceum inspire us toward new achievements,” the headmaster noted.
