
Superior Council of Magistracy accepts reinstatement of five judges
Chisinau, 27 October /MOLDPRES/- The Superior Council of Magistracy (SCM) today accepted the requests for reinstatement of the five judges concerned in the Laundromat case. The decision was made with nine votes in favor.
Thus, the CSM accepted the requests for reinstatement with the payment of salaries for the period in which they were suspended from office of judges: Serghei Gubenco who held the position of President of Comrat Court of Appeal, Sergiu Lebediuc former judge at Chisinau Court, Serghei Popovici who worked at the Comrat Court, Iurie Hârbu - judge at Telenesti Court and Garri Bivol - judge at Chisinau Court.The five judges requested reinstatement after in late September, they were removed from criminal prosecution as their actions did not meet elements of crime.
Also today, the CSM members ordered organizing a new contest for the appointment of a judge as a member of the Council of the National Institute of Justice, after today's one was declared failed because no candidate gained the required number of votes.
