Traffic on national roads under winter conditions
Traffic on national roads is under winter conditions, with sections where difficulties are encountered due to the carriageway being partially covered with snow and ice. This morning, heavy-duty transport has resumed travel on routes across the country.
According to the National Road Administration (AND), over the last 12 hours, road maintenance teams have been working continuously across the entire national road network. They carried out operations to combat slipperiness and to maintain traffic conditions in the northern, central and southern regions of the country, both on major, heavily trafficked arteries and on regional roads.
"During the night, for the execution of snow removal and anti-skid operations, 175 special vehicles and 162 road workers were deployed, and 1,841.05 tonnes of anti-skid material were spread. National routes are being permanently monitored, and intervention teams remain mobilized, including throughout the day, to maintain the safety and viability of the road network," AND stated.
According to the State Hydrometeorological Service, the Yellow Code for ice and glazed frost remains in force until 9 February 20:00, and weather conditions may continue to affect road traffic. Thus, during the night and in the early morning hours, road conditions may become difficult. In this context, drivers are urged to exercise increased caution, adapt their speed to driving conditions and follow the instructions of the authorities.
