VIDEO // Government Spokesperson: Authorities mobilized and working in coordinated way in context of bad weather

The authorities are mobilized and working in a coordinated manner to respond to emergency situations in the context of bad weather. Government’s spokesperson Daniela Crudu made the statement today, presenting the main actions implemented by the relevant institutions and urged citizens to exercise caution.

“On 4-8 February, the Republic of Moldova is facing bad weather conditions: icy roads, wind and snow. All these can affect traffic, as well as everyone’s safety. The authorities are prepared and working in a coordinated manner,” stated Crudu.

Thus, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the institutions under its authority are mobilized to intervene in emergency cases. At the same time, the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Health, and other competent institutions are prepared to intervene when necessary and to support other authorities.

The National Road Administration is intervening on national roads to spread anti-skid material, with 130 special vehicles, 120 workers and over 1,900 tons of anti-skid material involved as of 7 a.m.

The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations is also intervening for unblocking and towing operations upon request, with 322 employees and 86 special vehicles involved. Police officers (828 employees and 327 patrol cars) and carabineers (167 employees and 30 patrols) are engaged in ensuring road traffic safety and responding to incidents.

Daniela Crudu also came with recommendations for citizens.

“Take care of your loved ones, try to avoid long-distance travel, and if you are forced to do so, make sure that your car is properly equipped,” said the Government’s spokesperson.

At the same time, the authorities urged citizens to use energy resources reasonably, in order to avoid putting pressure on the networks.
