VIDEO // Moldova and Germany to cooperate in labour and social protection

The Republic of Moldova and Germany will cooperate in the labour and social protection. Minister of Labour and Social Protection Natalia Plugaru and her German counterpart Bärbel Bas signed an agreement to this effect today.

The document provides for greater protection for Moldovans working in Germany, including better access to information about their labour and social protection rights. The agreement also covers cooperation in combating undeclared work and improving working conditions.

Another measure envisages the exchange of experience and good practices between institutions in Moldova and Germany, in order to provide more efficient public services, as well as support for the development of employment policies and facilitating access to quality jobs.

Plugaru stressed that through this partnership, the Republic of Moldova is taking another step towards alignment with European standards, contributing to a safer, fairer and more people‑oriented labour system, both in the country and in the diaspora.

“The partnership with Germany will help advance reforms in the social protection and create a more inclusive labour market. The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection will continue these reforms along our European integration path, for the benefit of our citizens,” said Natalia Plugaru.

Bärbel Bas noted that the European Union is strong when there is close cooperation both in the economic field and in the area of labour.

“For me, it is important to support the Republic of Moldova on its European path. That is why today we had an exchange of views. I am pleased that, in order to strengthen our cooperation, we have also approved and signed a work programme,” the German official said.

The cooperation agreement in the field of labour and social protection between the Republic of Moldova and Germany was signed for 2026–2027.
