VIDEO // PM: Reform of local public administration aims for better services and stronger town halls

Government has launched the process of preparing the reform of local public administration, whose main objective is to improve the services provided to citizens, strengthen the capacities of town halls, and increase efficiency in attracting and absorbing European funds.

The reform aims to develop local communities through stronger administrations, capable of promptly responding to citizens’ needs and implementing sustainable development projects. The authorities state that a modernized local system will help raise the standard of living and bring public services closer to citizens.

In a post, Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu announced the launch of public consultations on the reform.

“The Government team, together with Secretary General Alexei Buzu has started consultations to prepare the reform of local public administration. We will talk to as many mayors, experts, and citizens as possible, because we share the same goal: strong town halls for developed localities,” the Prime Minister said.

The official stressed that local authorities must be strong enough to solve community problems, attract projects, and manage European funds efficiently. At the same time, Alexandru Munteanu urged local authorities and citizens to be actively involved in the consultation process, so that the reform is “good and beneficial”.

This week, the Government officially announced the launch of the process of preparing the reform of local public administration, as part of efforts to modernize the administration and improve the quality of public services provided to the population.
