
Greco-Roman wrestler Ignat Meico becomes European U17 vice champion
Greco-Roman wrestler Ignat Meico has become European U17 vice champion, winning the silver medal at U17 European Championship held in Skopje, North Macedonia.
In the final of the 71 kg weight category, Ignat Meico was defeated by Georgian Giori Gogelashvili.
Before reaching the final act of the category, Ignat Meico defeated representatives from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Greece, and in the semifinals, he overcame Artiom Ilchenko, who competed under a neutral flag.
In the 45 kg category, Vadim Țarelunga won the bronze medal after defeating Artem Tkachenko.
The participation of the national wrestling team in the U17 European Championships was made possible with financial support from the Ministry of Education and Research.
