Pavel Cebanu, former footballer and ex-president of the Moldovan Football Federation, turns 70 today. Born on March 28, 1955, in Reni, Odessa region, Cebanu is an emblematic figure in the Moldovan football, having had a remarkable career both on the field and in football administration.

Cebanu played his entire career at Zimbru Chisinau, as a midfielder, between 1972 and 1986. During the 14 years spent at Zimbru, he played 341 matches and scored 45 goals, also serving as team captain. His performance brought him to the forefront of Moldovan football and in 1980 he was named the best Moldovan footballer. In 2004, the Moldovan Football History and Statistics Association declared him Footballer of the Century in Moldovan football.

After retiring from playing, Cebanu continued to contribute to the development of football, having a successful career as a coach. Currently, he is president of the Moldovan Football Federation, actively involved in promoting and supporting the national football.
