Members of the diplomatic staff accredited to the Republic of Moldova, representatives of public authorities, the agricultural sector, and the business community took part in the Diplomatic Harvest of Flat Peaches and Cherries. The event is dedicated to promoting Moldovan agriculture and strengthening economic diplomacy.

The activity took place in the orchard of the company Star Fruit Trio in the village of Crețoaia, Anenii Noi district. In his opening remarks, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi underlined that the first edition of the Diplomatic Cherry Harvest, organized last year, demonstrated that diplomacy can contribute to the promotion of Moldovan products and can create new opportunities for exporters.

“We want such initiatives to become a tradition, a platform for discussion between diplomats and entrepreneurs, because partnerships are built through dialogue, continue in negotiation rooms, at trade fairs, and allow us to facilitate the access of our local products to new export markets. Every diplomat present here today can become an ambassador of Moldovan products in the country they represent,” said Mihai Popșoi.

For her part, Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Ludmila Catlabuga emphasized that regardless of challenges, Moldovan farmers work every day with perseverance and responsibility.

“We want to offer greater visibility to Moldovan producers and products so that we can capitalize on export opportunities and strengthen their presence both at home and abroad,” noted Ludmila Catlabuga.

Participants learned directly from the producer about the work involved and the process of harvesting cherries and peaches. At the same time, the potential of the flat peach was highlighted – one of the most promising horticultural crops in the Republic of Moldova, appreciated for its quality, resistance to transportation, and high export prospects. Currently, this variety is cultivated nationwide on approximately 200 hectares and is steadily gaining ground on foreign markets, including in the European Union.

The event continued with a tasting of Moldovan wines and a traditional outdoor lunch. In this way, guests had the opportunity to discover the hospitality, gastronomy, and authentic products of the Republic of Moldova.

The event was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry. The initiative is part of efforts to promote economic diplomacy and to capitalize on the opportunities offered by the diplomatic network to support exports and strengthen the presence of Moldovan products on international markets.
