Moldovan goods exports increased more than expected
Chisinau, 11 January /MOLDPRES/- Moldova recorded a 2.7-per cent-increase in exports of goods in the first 11 months of 2016 against the similar period of the previous year, exceeding expectations of officials who anticipated a decline in Moldovan deliveries on the foreign market. The National Statistics Bureau (BNS) today announced the results of the foreign trade for January-November 2016, showing exports worth 1 billion 851 million dollars.
A more pronounced growth was recorded in November, when exports increased by 8.5 per cent against the previous month and by 30.3 per cent against November 2015.
Re-exports of foreign goods had a more dynamic trend than export of local products. Re-exports increased by 4.4 per cent and export of local goods by 1.8 per cent. The EU has reached a 64.8-per cent- share in Moldovan exports, after an increase in annual deliveries by 7.2 per cent against January-November 2015, according to the official statistics.
Imports of goods decreased by 0.1 per cent in the first 11 months and by 5.7 per cent in November against the similar period of 2015.
Moldova exported goods amounting to 1 billion 851 million dollars in the first 11 months of 2016 and made imports standing at 3 billion 629.9 million dollars.
Given the trends of development of agriculture and industry estimated for 2016, considering the lower external demand (especially from Russia), as well as falling world market prices for agricultural products, the export will decrease by 5 per cent against the level of 2015,” the data by the Economics Ministry show. It anticipated a decrease in imports by 6 per cent.
The Expert-Grup centre appreciated in the MEGA analysis that “after dramatic drops recorded during the previous year, in the first 3 quarters of 2016 this negative trend was mitigated.” Experts anticipated for 2016 an increase in exports of goods and services by 3.9 per cent and by 3.6 per cent of imports, as a result of consumption growth.
